Default Is there a list of words you can't say in GW somewhere?

I seem to get banned for swearing a lot, and since I'm in the midst of a 162 hour ban for swearing, I figure I should peruse a list of words that I'm not allowed to say.

I still don't understand why people who freak the hell out about swearing can't just use the goddamn filter, but hey, I guess things don't have to make sense.

So, is there a list somewhere?

If you can't tell the difference between profanity and non-profanity, then we can't help you.

Instead of cussing in a public area (Local Chat and Ally Chat come to mind), keep it in say Team (if with Guildies or Allies) or Guild Chat (if your guild allows this sort of thing).

Turn on the swear filter. Anything blanked out, you aren't allowed to say.

That's a good method, but remember the chat filter does filter out Sony (or it used to).

I think like common sense would be the way to go. I too don't know why people don't use the chat filter. But I think attacking races and religions and other players is probably more likely to get you banned than just swearing. These attacks are harder to catch in a chat filter. Simply the Golden Rule comes to mind. Sounds kind of corny but being nice is not that hard.

Not a bad idea. I'll try it if I remember in a week. In the mean time, I guess Blizz won't mind my 15$.

If you knew my mother, you'd understand why this is a stupid thing to say.

Uh, I've never said a racist or sexist thing in my life. Never typed one either. I've also, as a devout Catholic, never hated on other people's religion. But f... sometimes a boy wanna let off steam.

I agree that anyone can use a filter.

its called common courtesy, respect, and common sense. if those alone cant tell you what words are appropriate or not, then i guess it just boils down to pure ignorance on your part.

ITT: people telling op he needs help because swearing is bad, m'kay.

there's nothing wrong with swearing, but some people do get offended by it. if that's the case maybe they should take responsibility for their sensitivity and play with the chat filter on.

I can understand letting off steam--I let out a stream of nasty words when my Paragon survivor died only 60k points away from legendary. However, I didn't type them into the chat box. Say them to your screen instead.

OK, the mom analogy didn't work. How about this--if it's a word the little old ladies and nuns in church would be shocked by, it's probably not OK to say in the chat in GW. If it's on George Carlin's list of things you can't say on TV, you can't say them in the chat. If it's in urban dictionary, it's not always something you can't say, but it's likely to be something you'd want to avoid, especially if it involves alternative words for sex, sex organs/private parts, pooping, or peeing.

I agree, there really is just far too little respect and not just in guild wars unfortunately...

If you need to let off steam sometimes then typing stuff really dont do it tbh. If you gotta let off some steam just yell out loud irl, and pehaps go hit something (solid wall right next to my comp ftw')

But tbh, just dont swear when around public places (trade, general and pug team chat). Guild and teams with guildies shouldnt be a problem unless they dont like it either ofc, but you prolly know if they mind it or not. In public, you dont know if anyone mind it. Chance is someone do'.

QFT. If you don't know what is bad then you either haven't been brought up right and need serious help or like Komma said, pure ignorance.

are you implying that someone other than you should adhere to your religion's moral standards?

"what is bad" is 100% subjective.
